5 smartphones leading the way with silicon-carbon battery technology

The silicon-carbon phones that are officially available for purchase in the West are examined in depth here, along with their significance.

The competition for smartphones in 2025 will involve more than simply megapixels, AI capabilities, and display brightness. It’s also about the battery, especially, which is located beneath the hood. Silently revolutionizing endurance and charging speeds, silicon-carbon battery technology is no longer just available in domestic Chinese markets.

In Western countries, a number of prominent companies have begun to provide silicon-carbon smartphones, giving customers in North America and Europe access to a new level of battery performance.

    OnePlus 13

    Oneplus 13 silicon–carbon battery technology

The OnePlus 13’s 6000mAh dual-cell silicon-carbon battery, the largest in a OnePlus flagship to yet, further advances the company’s leadership in battery advancements. With one of the highest energy densities for a dual-cell configuration (805Wh/L), it keeps the device relatively small while significantly increasing battery life.

Additionally, charging is not neglected. In addition to 50W wireless charging and 100W SuperVOOC wired charging, the phone now offers magnetic wireless charging—a first for OnePlus. A Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a gorgeous 2K BOE X2 LTPO AMOLED screen with a peak brightness of 4500 nits, and a triple 50MP camera configuration with a new tri-prism periscope lens are all included to match this power.

    Honor Magic 7 Pro

    honor magic 7 pro lineup

With a 5850mAh cell and 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, the Honor Magic 7 Pro goes all out rather than relying solely on silicon-carbon batteries. The battery easily outlasts the majority of other flagships in its class, and it represents a significant improvement over the standard 5000mAh configurations.

The Magic 7 Pro boasts an impressive array of specifications, including a variable aperture primary sensor, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 200MP periscope telephoto with 100x magnification, and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The top-tier devices also include satellite messaging, which is another feature that looks forward for customers in the West.

Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra

    Xiaomi 15 Ultra

Although more subdued, Xiaomi’s silicon-carbon implementation is just as stunning. The Xiaomi 15‘s body is only 8.08 mm thick, and it houses a 5240mAh battery. With Xiaomi’s Surge P3 and G1 chips controlling heat and power supply, it enables both 50W wireless and 90W cable charging.

But the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the tipping point. It incorporates a 200MP Leica periscope telephoto, a 1-inch primary sensor, a 5410mAh battery with the same charging configuration, and support for cutting-edge videography features like 10-bit log capture for all four rear cameras.

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro

Perhaps the most reasonably priced entry point into the world of silicon-carbon smartphones is the Redmi Note 14 Pro+. Supported by Xiaomi’s Surge P2 and G1 CPUs, it has a 6200mAh battery, one of the biggest in any popular phone this year. Despite its enormous capacity, the phone can be charged in less than 40 minutes using a 90W fast charging method.

It’s not only a matter of endurance. The phone also features a 50MP triple-camera configuration with a 2.5X telephoto lens, a 1.5K OLED display with a maximum brightness of 3000 nits, and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. It also has a stylish Victus 2 glass design and complete IP69 protection.

    Oppo Find X8 Pro

    oppo find x8 pro

The Find X8 Pro from Oppo is a prime illustration of how flagship-tier features and silicon-carbon batteries can coexist without sacrificing style. 80W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging are all supported by the 5910mAh battery. One of the most durable flagships Oppo has ever produced, the endurance advantage is evident.

Its internal components include a strong quad 50MP camera system with dual periscope lenses that provide up to 6x optical zoom, a powerful Dimensity 9400 processor, and compatibility for up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. In addition, the phone has an industry-leading AMOLED panel with a maximum brightness of 4500 nits and IP69 certification.

Silicon–carbon batteries are quickly becoming the next big leap in smartphone power technology, and the OnePlus 13, Honor Magic 7 Pro, Xiaomi 15, and Redmi 14 Pro Plus are just the beginning. With higher energy density, faster charging, and improved longevity compared to traditional lithium-ion cells, these devices showcase how the industry is evolving to meet our growing performance demands. As more manufacturers adopt silicon–carbon solutions, we can expect even slimmer designs, longer battery life, and fewer compromises — signaling an exciting new era for mobile technology.

  • Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 – worth it over Watch 8?

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 – worth it over Watch 8?

Not only is the release of a new Galaxy Watch an excuse to upgrade, but it also presents a chance for those who have been waiting to save more money on the previous model. If that describes you, now may be the ideal moment to get the Galaxy Watch 7.

Additionally, this is $10 below the unusual record low that we witnessed last month. In any case, this still represents a significant $180 price differential compared to the more costly Galaxy Watch 8. Remember that the 40 mm GPS variant in the Cream hue is included in the offer.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: why choose it over the Watch 8?

Despite being the forerunner of the recently released Galaxy Watch 8, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7 is still one of our suggested Wear OS smartwatches. Additionally, the price has made it more appealing to people who wish to experience the next generation’s key features without spending more than $200.

The round design of the Galaxy Watch 7 has the benefit of being marginally smaller than that of its successor’s squarish form. Additionally, it has the same MIL-STD-810H rating as the more recent smartwatch, as well as IP68 and 5 ATM waterproofing. Additionally, there is a bright 1.3-inch AMOLED display that reaches a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits and maintains its sharpness and legibility even in direct sunlight.

The Galaxy Watch 7 has the same Exynos W1000 processor, which makes daily use of the watch seamless and quick. Apps and workouts launch quickly enough. You may anticipate comparable precision and dependability in terms of measuring health metrics like blood pressure, heart rate, and ECG because the BioActive sensor is the same in both models.

With the upcoming One UI 8 Watch upgrade, the Galaxy Watch 7 will also get additional essential monitoring features including the Antioxidant Index, Sleep Apnea detection, and Vascular Load.

Aside from the updated design, the Galaxy smartwatch from last year lacks a slightly larger battery. However, because of how close the longevity differential is, this is by no means a deal breaker.

    Get the #deal of the year – Pixel 8 Pro + Watch 2 + case for $599

It makes sense that Google is attempting to sell off their older models at a discount, as they have formally announced that the Google Pixel 10 range and the Pixel Watch 4 will be introduced in August. In addition to the Pixel Watch 2 (199.99) and the official Pixel 8 Pro case ($34.99), which are both free, they are currently selling the Pixel 8 Pro for $599.99 (originally $999.99). If you want to start your trip into the Google ecosystem or obtain a Pro phone on a budget, this is a good value.

With support for a ton of AI features that keep the phone feeling new a year after it was released, the Pixel 8 Pro is still a fantastic phone in 2025. Since Google has been actively trying to address security flaws in its Pixel phones since the Pixel 6, software upgrades for the Pixel 8 Pro will be available for a considerable amount of time (up to seven years). Every few months, Google also releases new features for the Pixel, such as the “Audio Magic Eraser,” which eliminates annoying noises from films, and the “finest Take” function, which allows you to select the finest picture out of a collection.

The Pixel Watch 2 has a vivid AMOLED screen, a Qualcomm 5100 CPU, 33 hours of battery life, and a host of other features like a temperature sensor, GPS, an accelerometer, and a blood oxygen monitor. You may submerge the smartwatch up to 164 feet underwater because it has an IP68 rating for water and dust protection. Our review goes into greater information about it.

Get almost 60% off for the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic LTE

The Pixel Watch 2 for Android users is the primary competitor of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, which debuted in 2023 with excellent specifications and features. By 2025, both of these smartwatches – made by Samsung and Google, respectively—remain viable choices for users in those ecosystems. If you’re searching for a good price on a reliable wristwatch and you use Samsung or Android, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is now only $180.99 (was $449.99) thanks to an almost 60% reduction from Best Buy. For comparison, the current price of this model on Amazon is $329.99.

The 1.3-inch, 2,000-nit brilliant AMOLED screen of the Watch 6 features a digital bezel that allows for fast menu navigation. Best Buy also offers the larger 47mm screen with LTE for $240.99 (was $479.99) if that’s what you’re looking for.

All of the newest Wear OS features are available to you if you have an Android smartwatch. The Watch 6 has a number of unique functions, such as a temperature sensor, heart rate monitor, blood oxygen monitor, GPS tracking, and an accelerometer for measuring speed. Whether or whether your Android phone is within Bluetooth range, the Galaxy Watch 6 also lets you make and receive calls from it.

The Galaxy Watch 6 is “outstanding,” according to PCMag, which also named it the top 2023 wristwatch that works with Android. Yes, that was nearly two years ago, but for the price, Samsung customers still have a good choice. The main drawback will be the battery’s short lifespan of 22 hours, depending on usage.

The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is a cost-effective way to monitor your body composition, calendar, daily activities, heart rate, sleep, stress, weather, and exercises. Even though it was only released this month, the Galaxy Watch 8 is also on sale right now if you want the newest model.

  • Nothing CMF Buds Pro 2

    Nothing CMF Buds Pro 2

One of my recent faves is Nothing, a new tech company from the UK that produces devices including phones, smartwatches, and headphones. Its products have distinctive designs and features, and they are reasonably priced. Price-tracking tools show that Nothing’s CMF Buds Pro 2 earbuds are currently the lowest priced item ever, at just $47 (originally $69). For those seeking affordable earphones that deliver on quality, this is a fantastic choice.

    Nothing CMF Buds Pro 2

Nothing’s earbuds, which retail for less than $50, provide superior features and audio quality compared to its more expensive rivals. To begin, you can control the earbuds using the “Smart Dial” on the charging case. I’ve never been a fan of the touch controls on the earphones, and it appears that the folks from Nothing aren’t either. You can adjust the volume, pause or play, skip music, and more by turning the dial. The dial is yours to utilize whatever you see fit.

ChatGPT’s AI support straight from your earbuds is another unexpected feature that other Nothing products have. For the price of these earbuds, you get good active noise cancellation (ANC), which is unexpected. You may wear them to the gym and they will hold up even if you are caught in the rain because they are also P54 rated for dust and splash protection. In-ear recognition, which automatically pauses your music when you take out an earbud and resumes when you put it back in, is another awesome function that most high-end earbuds include. Well done.

Triband EQ, Ultra Bass mode, and dial and touch control customisation are just a few of the helpful features of the Nothing app, which is compatible with both iOS and Android.

Fitbit Charge 6 update brings new faces and features

Prepare yourself for a small surprise today if you possess a Fitbit Charge 6. An upcoming upgrade to the fitness tracker will increase compatibility and include new watch faces. The Inspire 3, Sense 2, and Versa 4 will also receive an update soon.

The Fitbit team revealed three new watch faces for the Fitbit Charge 6 on its community blog. Axira, the first of the three, is an analog clock that displays your heart rate at the bottom and the date at the top. With your heart rate at the top and your step count at the bottom, Geometric is a two-line clock. Lastly, Momentum displays a number of statistics at a glance, such as your heart rate, distance traveled, and steps taken.

Fitbit claims that the purpose of these watch faces was to make important exercise and health metrics easily accessible. This update will increase the Charge 6’s compatibility with fitness equipment in addition to adding new watch faces. “You can connect to a wider selection of equipment and view your real-time heart rate on display during your home or gym workouts,” according to the business, thanks to this increased compatibility.

fitbit charge 6 extra watch faces

The following devices and applications are listed as compatible with the Charge 6 in Google’s support document:

    • Peloton Bikes, Treads, and Rows
    • iFit (NordicTrack)
    • Concept 2
    • Tonal
    • Hydrow and Hydrow Wave
    • Spinning bikes and mobile app
    • Echelon
    • Strava

Although “not all Bluetooth-compatible devices and apps will connect or act similarly,” Google cautions that additional computers and apps that aren’t on the list might function. Additionally, it notes that there is a known incompatibility between TechnoGym, Life Fitness, and Garmin.

An upgrade is also planned for users of the Inspire 3, Sense 2, and Versa 4. However, only general bug fixes and enhancements will be included in the update.

Even though Amazon Prime Day is officially over, there are still some amazing offers available. The OnePlus 13R has maintained a significant discount on the merchant in the smartphone category. The current price is $490, which is roughly $109 (18%) less than the typical $599.

    Why upgrade to OnePlus 13R?

A less expensive flagship device than the OnePlus 13 is the OnePlus 13R. Early this year, it was introduced alongside the normal model and has streamlined specifications to drastically reduce its price. The 13R is still a good high-end choice, though, and it offers great value.

In no way are the trade-offs negative downgrades. For instance, the gadget has a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen that is just as dazzling as the more expensive OnePlus 13. But it has Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection and a flat panel. With an IP65 classification, it also has less resistance to dust and water. This is sufficient to withstand beach visits and water splashes.

    oneplus 13r new color

The flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC from last year powers the OnePlus 13R’s internal components. This processor still offers enough of power and is incredibly capable and dependable. In daily work, the OnePlus 13’s difference from the more recent Snapdragon 8 Elite is negligible or barely perceptible.

The OnePlus 13R is very good at several things, like battery life. Its battery lasts longer between charges than that of the OnePlus 13. Even though it doesn’t have wireless charging, it charges quickly at 80 W. Therefore, such trade-offs should be disregarded for a $300 difference, particularly because the reduction is providing you with further savings.

Get up to $524 for your Google Pixel 6a

With Google’s surprise and abrupt hike in trade-in prices, now is an excellent time to exchange your damaged Pixel 6a for $524. You won’t find a better deal elsewhere.

The Pixel 6a’s battery will be throttled by a necessary update that Google is releasing on July 8th, for those who are unaware. This is a reaction to earlier this year’s allegations of phones overheating. The Pixel 4a experienced a similar issue, and the upgrade eventually reduced the phone’s battery life to a few hours.

According to Google, the Pixel 6a’s battery capacity will be lowered after 400 charge cycles or if the device is found to be impacted by the issue. Depending on where you live, the search company will replace your battery for free. But, utilizing the greatest trade-in offer I’ve seen this year is a better choice.

Google U.K. introduced a new campaign last week that increases trade-in pricing, meaning that phones that are effectively dead will get a sizable payoff. The regular Pixel 9 costs up to £675 ($920.50), the Pixel 9 Pro and XL versions cost £820 ($1118.24), and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold costs £1,045 ($1425.07). In addition to its standard trade-in assessments, Google claims that this adds a bonus of between £200 ($272.58) and £400 ($545.16).

The company will pay £384 ($523.78) for your Pixel 6a. You won’t get anything like that for a Pixel 6a unless you con someone on eBay by sending them a broken Pixel 6a instead of an iPhone 14 (don’t do that). This is a good offer that I haven’t seen from Google or any other manufacturer before, if you’re not put off by their battery-related antics.

    • Google Pixel 7 Pro – £454 ($618.75)
    • Google Pixel 6 Pro – £415 ($565.60)

    • Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra – £517 ($704.62)
    • Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus – £373 ($508.36)

Google releases the battery restricting update on July 8th, which also happens to be the day the offer finishes. But don’t worry, there will be more in the future given the scope and regularity of Google, Samsung, and Amazon’s promotional offers.

  • Pixel 10 comes with better finger print tech and upgraded wireless charging

Pixel 10 comes with better finger print tech and upgraded wireless charging

According to a recent leak, the Pixel 10 is expected to come with two major upgrades this year: a better ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and support for Qi2 wireless charging.

    Faster fingerprint recognition

When Google eventually abandoned the sluggish and unreliable optical fingerprint sensors of earlier generations in favor of ultrasonic ones with the Pixel, it made a significant shift. However, it appears that the fingerprint experience will be much better with the incoming Pixel.

    Pixel 10 fingerprint tech

According to the research, when working with damp or dirty fingers, the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor will provide superior speed and responsiveness.

It’s good to note that Google isn’t discontinuing the fingerprint sensor even though their face unlock system has supported Class 3 biometric verification since the Pixel 8, which makes it safe enough for delicate operations like digital payments and banking.

Pixel devices provide consumers with more flexibility and convenience based on their requirements and surroundings by providing both fingerprint and face unlock. Google frequently teases Apple with humorous advertisements, and I anticipate one involving these biometric technologies after the release of the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro.

    Qi2 wireless charging

The Pixel 10’s support for Qi2 is another noteworthy improvement. Sadly, even though the Pixel 10 will be Qi2-ready, customers will still require a magnetic case that works with it in order to fully benefit from it.

    qi article 2 image 1

Companies like Samsung and OnePlus, who have also introduced Qi2 support this year, have used a similar strategy. Fun fact: Although the Apple iPhone 16e does not fully support Qi2 fast charging, it is technically compatible with MagSafe.

A new look is also being applied to the Pixel 10 series. The Pro models will, as usual, keep to more subdued colors like Sterling Gray and Smoky Green, while the base Pixel 10 will be offered in Ultra Blue, Limoncello, Iris, and Midnight. The colors of the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold will match those of the standard Pro variants.

The Pixel 10 series will reportedly be unveiled by Google on August 20. Pre-orders will begin that same day. Beginning on August 28, the phones will be on sale.

In addition to Qi2 and an improved fingerprint sensor, the Pixel 10 series is anticipated to use Google’s first entirely proprietary processor (Tensor G5), which offers significant improvements in terms of performance, faster biometric systems, and next-generation charging technology.
