Android New Feature enables users to operate their phone using facial expressions

Google is one of the world’s most powerful technology companies. It has a wide ecosystem of products that can meet almost every technical need. Because it is always updated to provide the best experience to its consumers, the Silicon Valley-based corporation is usually at the top.

The tech juggernaut has been adding new features to Android lately. Google aims to maximize the use of AI; its latest feature will enables users to operate their phone using facial expressions

    Latest Accessibility Feature

Though it isn’t always used for that purpose, Android has long offered an Accessibility API that allows developers to create apps and experiences that aid people with disabilities. Screen readers, switch-based input systems, and voice-based input systems are among the categories that Google envisions for apps that use the Accessibility API.

The company’s own “Android Accessibility Suite” software provides, as the name suggests, a set of accessibility capabilities to help people with disabilities use their devices. The Android Accessibility Suite’s most recent release provides a new option for users to control their devices: “Camera Switches.

    android

The Android Accessibility Suite application was included in the fourth Android 12 beta release, which was pushed out to Pixel phones a few days ago, as beta version 12.0.0. Switch Access, one of the accessibility services included in the Android Accessibility Suite app, now has “Camera Switches.” Switch Access is a collection of tools that allow you to interact with your Android device without having to use the touchscreen.

You can use Switch Access to select objects, scroll, type, and more by connecting an external device through USB or Bluetooth. Users can now control their device with nothing more than their face thanks to “Camera Switches.”

Camera Switches now allows you to assign a few gestures to a few controllers, though this list may expand in the future. For example, you can have the app recognize when you wave your hand and then connect that to opening the notifications window. You may also have it detect when your brows are raised and then return the phone to the home screen.

    In Other News

We noticed an intriguing pattern while looking through the Google Playstore recently. There appears to be a significant increase in utility apps, such as phone clone apps. The COVID-19 epidemic is most likely to blame for the rise in such apps. People have been forced to stay at home due to the pandemic, and as it continues to spread, they are turning to apps for help.

People are looking for more convenient solutions to address their problems because almost every monotonous work has shifted to the virtual realm. We’ll have to see if this trend persists or if it’s just a passing craze.

  • Android 12 Beta 4: Notifications not showing due to a bug

Android 12 Beta 4: Notifications not showing due to a bug

Google is one of the top tech company’s worldwide. It has a vast ecosystem of products catering to almost every technological need. The Silicon Valley-based company is always at the top since it keeps on updating to provide its users with the best experience.

During the past year, Google has been working on the Android 12 update. The Beta version is available and has revealed some intriguing features. The details about which features will be kept in the final version are ambiguous but overall this seems to be the best update till now.

Nevertheless, there seem to be a couple of issues that need to be resolved before the Android 12 update is rolled out worldwide. The most recent issue is with the notifications. Due to a bug, most notification banner pop-ups do not appear.

    android 12

    Notifications Bug

Google is “moving into the final phase” of Android 12 with this week’s release, focusing on perfecting rather than introducing new features. However, most notification banners do not appear on Android 12 Beta 4 due to a glitch.

When you receive a notification on Android, you should see the app icon/name in the status bar, as well as a short banner containing the sender name, message preview, and reply option. On Beta 4, users only see the status bar section of the notice, and they must swipe down to see the complete alert. The pop-up notification banner is missing.

Consequently, if you use your device without sound or vibration, it’s incredibly simple to miss incoming alerts. If users forget the app name, they’ll have to keep an eye on the status bar. Rebooting does not fix the problem, as the impacted apps’ “Pop-up screen” notification feature stays enabled.

Regardless of whether your device is set to receive all notifications, only vibrate, or is silent, this is a common problem reported by Pixel 3, 4, and 5 owners. Some apps, on the other hand, appear to be unaffected, while the banner appears when two warnings arrive at the same time. On the lock screen and always-on display, banners work normally.

    Summing Up

Google will almost certainly have to fix the notification flaw, but it’s unclear if that will happen in an Android 12 Beta 4.1 update or when the Release version arrives “in the weeks ahead.” Although this is the final beta, it is evident that there are still some usability issues.

However, it is worth mentioning that the Android 12 will make it easy to perform tasks such as file sharing. This bundle of features known suggests that Google is attempting to improve the usability of its operating system since it enables users to personalize and alter their devices. We will have to wait a bit more to see which features end up in the final “polished” version. Additionally, it appears that Google agrees with Apple’s privacy regulations, which have been the subject of debate since their debut. Many of the details of these features are unknown, and the majority of them are just suppositions. We’ll have to wait for the build to see how correct our leak-based assumptions were.

  • Google Pixel 6 is to include a Samsung camera sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels

Google Pixel 6 is to include a Samsung camera sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels

Google’s ecosystem is similar to Apple’s. Its users have access to a wide range of products for all of their technological needs. The tech juggernaut has continued to evolve, releasing innovative product after another. It began as a search engine and has now expanded into the smartphone industry with its mid-range smartphones.

Details about the phone are being gradually unveiled and we have just discovered another interesting feature.

    google pixel

    Google Pixel 6: Brief Overview

Google has released official rear shots of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, with the design correlating with many leaked versions and exhibiting a substantial departure from previous Pixel devices. The Pixel 6 Pro will have a similar look to the Pixel 6, but instead of two lenses on the back, it will feature three.

According to rumors on the internet, the Google Pixel 6 Pro will have a 6.67-inch or 6.71-inch display, making it somewhat bigger than the Pixel 5. It also boasts a bigger screen than the Pixel 4 XL, which only features a 6.3-inch display.

The Pixel 6 Pro is rumored to boast a Quad HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, putting it in direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21+, as well as the OnePlus 9 Pro, although nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Tensor, Google’s system-on-chip, will be included in the Pixel 6 Pro; learn more about it here. The chip has a new security core module and Titan M2, and it’s meant to run all AI and machine learning applications, including computational photography and real-time translation. It will be able to do functions like iOS transfer with ease.

    Samsung’s Camera Sensor

Google did not reveal many details about the cameras when it previewed the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, merely stating that the regular model will have two sensors and the Pro variant would have three. It did say that the Pixel 6 would be able to capture 150 percent more light, and reports suggest that both models will contain at least a 50MP wide-angle primary sensor.

    google pixel camera

Last year, Samsung launched the ISOCELL GN1, a 50MP camera sensor with pixel-binning for 12.5MP pictures and a combined pixel size of 2.4m. If this is the sensor that will be used in the Pixel 6, it will be a significant upgrade above the 12.2MP Sony sensor that has been used in almost every Pixel’s main camera.

Furthermore, because the device’s Google Tensor chip is reported to be created by Samsung using the company’s 5nm process, the Pixel 6 could include a lot more Samsung. The modem is also rumored to be produced by Samsung, and while there’s no information on the OLED display, it wouldn’t surprise us if it was as well.

    Summing Up

No definite release date has been given for the Google Pixel 6 but is expected to be released sometime this fall. The Google Pixel 6 seems quite impressive and the collaboration with Samsung is sure to bring a lot of high-end features on board. We will have to wait for further details to determine if this device will be a hit or miss.

  • In an attempt to dethrone Samsung, OnePlus launch a foldable device

In an attempt to dethrone Samsung, OnePlus launch a foldable device

OnePlus has seen a sudden spike in its popularity due to its affordable range of products. The Chinese-based company has been swiftly rising among the ranks while on the other hand, Samsung has experienced a plunge.

Samsung’s latest venture, the Samsung Galaxy S21 has been a major miss with sales hitting an all-time low. The South Korean tech giant hopes to make a swift recovery after their Unpacked event which showcases the foldable devices. This event is monumental for the company since not only is it a chance for Samsung to get back to the top, it will also determine if foldable devices are indeed the future.

OnePlus is aware of the significance of this event and is hoping to use Samsung’s influence to jump-start its campaign. The Chinese smartphone maker teased a mysterious item on social media and claimed it would unveil more details later today. The ambiguous announcement overlaps with Samsung’s Unpacked event hence a brilliant marketing strategy from OnePlus.

    oneplus foldable

    Further Details

According to the teaser, the phone that OnePlus has teased appears to be a dual-screen device, similar to what Samsung is expected to reveal. While the teaser reveals few specifics about the smartphone, we haven’t heard anything about a phone like this being in development. There haven’t been any reports regarding a device similar to this from any source hence if OnePlus is developing such a gadget then it has been kept extremely well hidden.

OnePlus may reveal a dual-screen prototype phone, similar to the Surface Phone, with two distinct displays connected by a hinge. Although the teaser shows two displays, a vertical hinge can also be seen in the center.

Alternatively, it could be a dual-screen attachment, similar to the one LG tried out. The LG Velvet dual-screen accessory wasn’t as thick as the one seen in the OnePlus’ teaser trailer when viewed from the side. Making us think it’s just a gimmick that OnePlus is attempting to pull off.

On Instagram, the Chinese smartphone company recently shared multiple photos of the OnePlus 9 Pro with various fruits. The company attempted to spoof Apple in one such post with a slew of Apples.

Looking at this troll post and the complete absence of details about the next OnePlus product, we believe OnePlus is merely slamming Samsung. And if that’s the case, we’re going to be devastated.

    Summing Up

Details about this mysterious device are extremely scarce hence this might be just a marketing gimmick by OnePlus to gain traction from Samsung’s Unpacked event. Over the past year, the Chinese-based company has released some impressive devices and has become a strong contender in the smartphone manufacturer industry. Its devices are capable of carrying out complicated tasks such as file switch without any trouble. We for sure cannot wait to find out what this mysterious device is. Is it a foldable device from OnePlus or just another device?  We will have to wait just a little longer to find out if Samsung foldable devices have a serious competitor or was it just an elaborate marketing gimmick to steal the spotlight.

An 8720mAh battery might be used to power the entire package. The Mi Pad 5 is expected to feature 65W fast charging. Last month, the Mi Pad 5 with model number M2105K81AC was certified by 3C. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for the tech giant.

  • MagDart magnetic wireless charging devices from Realme

MagDart magnetic wireless charging devices from Realme

Realme is developing a magnetic wireless charging method for its Android phones, as The Verge reported last week, and the company has now announced a whole line of goods that will employ the new technology.

    MagDart

    MagDart

The wireless charging device is known as MagDart by Realme, and it’s essentially a more powerful version of Apple’s MagSafe system for the iPhone 12 series of phones. The 50W MagDart charger, which Realme claims are the world’s fastest magnetic wireless charger, is the star of the show. It features an unavoidably hefty cuboid form to accommodate a cooling fan, but Realme is betting that users will accept this trade-off in exchange for faster-charging speeds.

Realme claims that when plugged into the company’s 65W SuperDart wired charger, the MagDart charger would charge a 4,500mAh phone battery to 100% in 54 minutes. That’s almost as quick as the 50W wired charger from Realme. Realme is also working on a 15W MagDart charger, which looks similar to Apple’s MagSafe puck but is 26.4 percent slimmer and claims quicker charging speeds if you don’t want to have to put a charging brick into a charging brick.

According to Realme, it can charge a 4,500mAh battery in 90 minutes, which is far faster than Apple’s 15W option. Aside from the simplicity of wireless charging, a magnetic design like MagDart and MagSafe opens up the possibility of elegant port-less accessories, and Realme has a slew of them.

The MagDart Power Bank is comparable to Apple’s recently launched MagSafe Battery Pack, except it has a dock that allows you to utilize the battery as a phone stand. The MagDart Shell is a carbon fiber-style case featuring a pass-through USB-C port and headphone jack, as well as built-in MagDart connectivity, for the new Realme GT flagship phone. The MagDart Wallet is a three-card sleeve that looks a lot like Apple’s MagSafe wallet. This one, though, features a kickstand.

The MagDart Beauty Light, a selfie-ready flip-up ring light powered by reverse wireless charging, is perhaps the best of the bunch. It contains 60 tiny LEDs and a separate control button for adjusting brightness and color temperature, among other things.

    Availability and Price

Realme hasn’t announced a release date or price for any of these goods, and the Realme GT is the only phone that has been confirmed to operate with a MagDart gadget that is capable of carrying out iOS transfers as well- and that’s only if you buy the specific case

For what is essentially the debut of a large new ecosystem of products, that’s a fairly big catch. However, if Realme incorporates MagDart into future phones, that might be a significant distinction.

    What can we expect?

Wireless charging is one of the most common exclusions from Chinese phones with otherwise outstanding spec sheets – Oppo was one of the first to adopt the technology, and Vivo has yet to follow suit. And, given that Oppo’s VOOC fast-charging mechanism was ported to OnePlus and Realme phones thanks to the firms’ shared ownership and supply chain, MagDart may follow suit.

  • Redmi Note is now waterproof

    Redmi Note is now waterproof

In 2021, Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand produced a slew of Redmi Note 10 series phones, including the Redmi Note 10, Note 10S, Note 10 5G, Note 10 Pro, Note 10 Pro for China, and Note 10 Pro for India. All these variants are affordable mid-rangers with premium features staying true to the Redmi line.

With the Redmi Note 10 Japan Edition, the brand is now bringing another model to the lineup. This is simply a Redmi Note 10 5G with a few significant changes.

    redmi note

    Further Details

The Snapdragon 480 5G chipset replaces the inexpensive Dimensity 700 5G SoC in the regular 5G model of the Redmi Note 10. The Qualcomm processor has an Adreno 619 GPU instead of the Mediatek chip’s Mali-G57 MC2 graphics, while the two chipsets have a fairly identical CPU arrangement (2x Cortex-A76 and 6x Cortex-A55).

Another significant upgrade is the Redmi Note 10 Japan Edition’s water and dust resistance, which is rated at IP68. Splash resistance had already been spotted on low-cost Xiaomi phones, but this is the first time we’ve seen a full-fledged IP68 designation. Finally, the phone has a 4,800mAh battery vs the 5,000mAh battery of the Redmi Note 10 5G.

A 6.5-inch 90Hz LCD panel (FHD+), 18W wired charging, a 48MP+2MP+2MP back camera system, an 8MP camera in a center-mounted punch-hole cutout, IR blaster, 3.5mm jack and side-mounted fingerprint scanner appear to be the only differences between the two phones. Both devices have the capability to carry out everyday tasks such as file switch.

    Expected Price Range

Pricing has yet to be announced, however, Japanese customers should expect a 4GB/64GB variant at launch. We’d place the Redmi Note 10 Japan Edition in the same pricing range as the ordinary Redmi Note 10 5G, which launched at $199.

    Summing Up

Overall, the Redmi Note 10 is an impressive device for a budget phone. It has upgraded specs from its predcessors hence we are looking forward to some vast improvement. We’ll have to wait for the release to fully test out the phone.

    Design

    Nokia XR20 featured main 1 1

At a glance, the XR20 doesn’t appear to be as well-made as some of the bulkier smartphones we’ve seen in recent months. It weighs only 248g and has a slim 10.6mm profile – the thinnest in its category – with a footprint of 171.6 x 81.5mm.

The device’s front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, which Nokia claims is the strongest screen it has ever seen on a Nokia smartphone. Near the top edge, there’s a tiny pinhole camera, as well as a red emergency button and a SIM slot. A lanyard attachment loop, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microphone, a Type-C connector, and a downward firing speaker occupy the opposite side.

A dedicated, non-customizable Google Assistant button is located on the left edge, while a rocker volume button and a slightly depressed power button that acts as a fingerprint scanner are located on the right side. A prominent bulge on the textured plastic back has two camera sensors (48-megapixel and 13-megapixel UW), as well as two, LED flashes.

The XR20 is MIL-STD-810 certified, featuring a thick rubber bumper and metal frame that should keep it usable in most conditions. The device has also been given an IP68 rating.

    Specifications

    Nokia XR20 rugged phone 1

The Nokia XR20 is a special edition of the Nokia X20. Both have the same 6.67-inch display, 1080 x 2400 pixels, an octa-core SoC. The latter is constructed using an 8nm technique, which allows it to run cooler and more efficiently. A Snapdragon X51 5G modem-RF system with Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth 5.1, Kyro 460 CPU cores, and a Qualcomm Adreno 619 GPU are all found inside the chip. It can carry out tasks such as file switch easily.

Wind-noise cancellation technology, 2×2 MIMO antenna technology (for enhanced Wi-Fi reception), 15W Qi wireless charging technology, and 18W fast charging capability for the 4.63Ah battery are also included. However, as par with the latest trend, it does not come with a charger but just a Type-C USB cable.

    Verdict

Expect a little short of miracles in terms of raw performance, though we did observe that our browser-based tests generated the best results among the 5G tough devices to date, outperforming even the most mainstream Dimension 800 smartphones. The storage performance was average, with random/sustained writes being the standouts.

If you want the best network connections, a tough smartphone without the tough look, the cleanest Android, and a well-known brand with assured after-sales assistance, you should acquire this device.
