Motorola Edge 2021 Released: All You Need to Know

Motorola has announced the Motorola Edge 2021, which is the successor to last year’s Motorola Edge smartphone. In comparison to last year’s Motorola Edge, the newly released Motorola Edge 2021 has better specs and a flat display.

The Snapdragon 778G chipset is at the heart of the device. The display of the phone is a 6.8-inch IPS LCD with Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. 8GB of RAM, a 108MP triple-camera array, a 32MP selfie camera, and a 5000mAh battery are among the device’s other notable features.

    Availability and Price

The Motorola Edge 2021 will set you back $699. For a limited time, the smartphone will be sold at a discounted price of $499. The Motorola Edge 2021 is only available in one color: Nebula Blue.

Pre-orders for the smartphone will begin on August 23 in the United States. The phone will be available on Amazon.com, Best Buy, B&H Photo, and Motorola.com starting September 2. In the coming months, the Motorola Edge 2021 will also be available in Canada.

    Specifications Worth Mentioning

    The Motorola Edge 2021 boasts a 6.5-inch IPS LCD with a 144Hz refresh rate and a Full-HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels. The screen boasts a 20:9 aspect ratio, a screen-to-body ratio of 90.6 percent, and HDR10 support.

The Snapdragon 778G SoC is at the heart of the gadget. The Adreno 642L GPU is in charge of graphics performance. The phone has an internal storage capacity of 256GB and 8GB of RAM. After observing the specs, we can safely say that the device will have no trouble carrying out functions such as file sharing.

Additionally, the device has a triple-camera configuration for optical purposes. A 108MP main camera with an f/1.9 lens is included in the rear-facing camera module. An 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel depth camera complement the 108MP sensor. The smartphone sports a 32MP selfie camera with an f/2.25 aperture on the front.

Wi-Fi 6E, 5G, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C cable are among the device’s connectivity options. The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the side as well as a face unlock option. The smartphone is powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. The Motorola Edge 2021 has dimensions of 169 x 75.6 x 8.99mm and weighs 200 grams. The phone comes pre-installed with Android 11 with My UX on top. The device is also IP52 rated, which means it can withstand water and dust splashes.

Motorola Edge 20 5G series: All You Need to Know

Motorola Edge 20 Pro, the most costly handset in the series, is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865 found in the original Edge+. It comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage as standard, but no support for micro SD cards. Owners will also get access to a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ screen with a 144Hz refresh rate, according to the report. The Motorola Edge 20 Pro, however, does not have a curved-edge display, as evidenced by the leaked press renders below. A flat panel with a centred punch-hole has been substituted for that aesthetic element.

A rectangular camera bump sits on the back, housing an LED flash, some branding, and three sensors. The main camera is a 108-megapixel sensor, but there’s also a 16-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and an 8-megapixel 5x periscope zoom camera. A 4,500mAh battery with 30W fast charging capabilities completes the Edge 20 Pro’s kit. Android 11 is most likely pre-installed as well, with Android 12 apparently on the way. In Europe, the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is projected to cost €699 at launch. Midnight Blue and Blue Vegan Leather will be the two colours offered. The official announcement is set for August 5, and shipments are expected to begin soon after.

    Motorola Edge 20 is a 5G smartphone.

In addition to the high-end Edge 20 Pro, Motorola is developing the Motorola Edge 20 5G, which will employ the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset. In this case, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage are combined. It can’t be expanded using a micro SD card, so if you run out of space, you’ll have to rely on cloud storage to keep papers and photographs.

When it comes to photographs, the Edge 20 5G’s cameras are still rather good. The main and ultra-wide sensors are taken from the Pro model, and previous rumours suggested that an 8-megapixel 3x telephoto zoom camera would be included as well. The phone also has the same 6.7-inch 144Hz display as the Pro model, a flat iPhone 12-like aluminium frame, and a 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging capabilities. Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and WLAN 6 are among the connectivity standards supported.

The Motorola Edge 20 5G, as well as the Pro model, should be introduced next week. It will be available in Frosted Gray and Frosted White finishes and will retail for €499 in Europe. A specific North American version with a larger display and a downgraded camera system is in the works, however, details have yet to be revealed.  The devices will be able to carry out tasks such as file switch with ease.

    Motorola Edge 20 Lite.

We have no idea how much the Motorola Edge 20 Lite will set you back. However, we do know that it will be the most cost-effective phone in the series, and one of the top budget 5G phones in 2021. Motorola has chosen the Dimensity 720G 5G chipset, which includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Edge 20 Lite, unlike the other smartphones, will accept micro SD cards, allowing you to take as many images as you want without worrying about running out of space.

The 6.7-inch display with the centred punch-hole is still there, but the refresh rate has been reduced to 90Hz, which is still acceptable. On the rear, there’s a triple-camera array as well as a 32-megapixel selfie sensor. A 108-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 2-megapixel depth camera for greater bokeh make up the latter.

The Edge 20 Lite is essentially a glorified dual-camera system. A 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support, a 3.5mm headphone jack for hard-core users, Android 11, and Bluetooth 5 connectivity round out the remainder of the specs.

    Android 11 custom ROM

As you might well be aware by now, Android 11 ‘s stable version has now been released to the public. Google’s Pixel phone series and a handful of Xiaomi devices have entered the upgrade train so far, while official beta builds are available for the OnePlus 8 lineup, the Samsung Galaxy S20 series, and many other smartphones from various OEM’s.

The source code for the newest Android version is also available on AOSP, which is undeniably a critical ingredient for compiling custom ROMs based on Android 11. In reality, the Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9 T Pro has already been given a fairly functional AOSP 11 ROM for vanilla.

Now, more Android 10 custom ROMs have begun popping up in our forums for devices like the Xiaomi POCO F1, OnePlus 5/5T, Essential Phone, and the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1; and we expect even more to come along the way in the coming weeks. Android 11 Google Apps

Apart from the above mentioned ROMs, we will see a lot of custom Android 11 builds released in the weeks to come. Not all custom ROMs ship with Google apps pre-installed though. If you’re looking for an acceptable delivery of GApps, then you’ll be pleased to know that Nikhil, XDA Senior Member, has stepped up and launched an updated version of the NikGapps kit.

The SetupWizard module within this Gapps distribution is known to be problematic, but you can remedy this by skipping the module using nikgapps.config or flashing the variant without SetupWizard.

Foldable phone in 2020 – Motorola Razr

At least for the moment, foldable phones are considerably more fragile than more common types of smartphones. The screens are plastic to allow folding, not glass, and with the first batch of Galaxy Folds, the gap between the screen and phone body will cause dirt to get inside — something Samsung learned very quickly. We already have a general idea of the reliability of the Motorola Razr, but JerryRigEverything has show us a better picture.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eokt7DWljtU

The video doesn’t begin out particularly well, scratching the display very quickly. The rest of the phone comes out better, covering most of the other elements in metal and glass. Zack later tries to push sand and rubble into the screen gap, and although the display opening sound makes me physically recoil like I’m watching Scott’s Tots, the display keeps working. Pocket sand can not damage the new Motorola Razr.

The video seems to paint the Razer in a positive way; It certainly didn’t expect the touchscreen to continue to work after.
